The Black Death, Spanish flu, HIV, Ebola All pandemics which have wiped out significant portions of the human race and have had both social and health outcomes for better and for worse.

Are we all going to die of an horrendous flesh eating disease, a viral brain explosion or horrible respiratory virus that makes you cough up a lung? Will a pandemic wipe out human life?

Dr Michael Baker, a Professor of Public Health at the University of Otago, tells us what a pandemic is, how it spreads and what's likely to be the nect disease to cull the human species.
