Te Atatu hapū a step closer to marae community hub

It's been a slow and fraught process, dragged out over 30 years, but the Maori community in the Auckland suburb of Te Atatu are one step closer to having a marae in their neighbourhood.

For decades, tangata whenua have been fighting to have a marae founded in a public park.

After public opposition and a legal battle that ended in the Supreme Court, land has finally been secured.
