Residents of the Northland town of Mangawhai Heads have had a day of Covid limbo and "absolute confusion" as to what alert level they are at.
Eight checkpoints were set up around Auckland's regional boundaries as the alert level 3 restrictions came into effect.
But their exact location appeared to expand the super city's limits, and late this afternoon led to a change of plan from police.
