The Royal Commission of Inquiry into Abuse in Care, released its findings today calling the abuse and neglect of at least 200,000 children and young people "a national disgrace." The 3000 page report, which investigated cases going back to 1950, calls for widespread law reform, an overhaul of Aotearoa's care system, and the urgent implementation of a redress scheme.
