Every week on Culture 101 we check the pulse of a different area of Aotearoa. This week it's Waikato.
A part of the region has turned pink with the Cherry Blossom Festival in Hamilton. Visitors from the community and around the motu will flock to the area and take part in the multicultural and themed festivities. Beatlemania, United Nations Jazz and Blues and a Bridgerton Ball are spread over three weekends with attendees being encouraged to dress to theme.
Cherry Blossom Festival organiser and owner, Paul Oulton, speaks to Culture 101’s Perlina Lau about how the festival is all thanks to a few trespassers.
