It’s the torturous question of “what if?” - that sliding doors moment which can haunt people. It’s the premise of a new New Zealand musical When We Were Us at BATS Theatre this month.
Written and composed by Catherine Zulver and produced by Red Scare Theatre Company, the two-character show focuses on Claire and Dylan - two exes who haven’t seen each other for eight years. It’s been years since they’ve spoken when they were young, in love and travelling the world. Now, they’ve established new and separate lives but one phone call from Dylan from a hospital in New York, sees Claire rush to his side.
Catherine Zulver joins Perlina Lau of Culture 101 to chat about the challenges and process of writing her first musical.
