Maori-Samoan RnB artist Jordyn Rapana - also known as Jordyn with a Why is on a roll.

She's just released her first album Hibiscus Moon, Love and Justice and to coincide with the fifth anniversary of Waiata Anthems, one of those songs is part of the 2024 Waiata Anthems Taumata Programme - ‘Maku Ano’ featuring fellow Māori singer Mohi. The initiative nurtures and encourages talent to create waiata reo Māori or bilingual waiata.

Earlier this year she was nominated for Best Māori artist at the Aotearoa Music Awards and has been nominated for the APRA Maioha Award - which recognises contemporary Māori music and songwriters telling Te Ao Māori stories.

On Friday 20 September, for Te Wiki o Te Reo Māori, she and Mohi play a fundraiser gig at Tāmaki Makarau's Tuning Fork, in support of Te Puna Reo o Ritimana - a total immersion Māori early childhood center in Ponsonby

She joins Culture 101’s Perlina Lau for Fast Favourites.
