New Zealand is thought to be in danger of becoming the new wild west for the testing of self-driving cars unless it takes a brave approach to regulation. Mitchell Gingrich worked in the US as a test driver for Uber's autonomous vehicles trial, and he was there in 2018 when the company's first fatal crash occurred, an event which raised questions about the safety of self-driving vehicles.
