12:10 UHP's new album decades in the making

UHP - formerly Upper Hutt Posse - are launching their new album, Hau, tomorrow. It's their eighth studio album and 
traverses several decades. The title track took 17 years to complete. At the forefront throughout it all, since their first single and album in the 1980's is UHP's Te Kupu, Dean Hapeta.

Chances are you have seen some of James Rickard's work across the land, or even in places like Passchendaele in Belgium and Singapore. James Te Taonui a Kupe Rickard was a part of the first carving school intake at the New Zealand Māori Arts and Crafts Institute in 1967. After 55 years he is resting his toki to spend time with whānau.

12:45 Deborah Stokes on son Ben becoming England cricket captain

On Thursday New Zealand born Ben Stokes was named as the new England cricket test captain. His mum Deborah, or Deb Stokes, lives in Christchurch and is a victim support advocate, who has received a Police Commissioners Commendation award for her mahi. In a touch of serendipity Ben Stokes' first test match as captain will be against New Zealand at the home of Cricket, Lord's on June 2nd.
