Ngapaki Moetara brings Witi Ihimaera's writing to the stage
Witi's Wahine is based on the writing of Witi Ihimaera funneled through the creative lens of the late Nancy Brunning. Brunning, who died in 2019, crafted a play which drew inspiration from wahine toa in some of Witi Ihimaera's most beloved works including The Matriarch, Pounamu Pounamu and The Parihaka Woman. Now director Ngapaki Moetara is bringing Witi's Wahine to the stage in Auckland.
Dr Tom Roa explains the renaming of Waikato railway
A ceremony was held in the Waikato today to commemorate the renaming of a 112-kilometre section of the main trunk railway line between Taumarunui and Te Awamutu. It will now be called to Te Ara o Turongo. Historian Dr Tom Roa was at the ceremony.
