Police officers failed in their duty of care to man who died in custody

From Midday Report, 12:17 pm on 16 December 2021

Police officers failed in their duty of care to a man who died in their custody at the Hawera Police Station in 2019.

The Independent Police Conduct Authority found Allen Ball's death in the cells could have been prevented, if the officers involved had sought medical help for him earlier.

The Authority's chair Judge Colin Doherty joins Māni Dunlop on Midday Report.
