Shambolic start to Parliament as Mallard elected Speaker

The Government will be hoping today's formal State Opening of Parliament will run more smoothly than yesterday's shambles. MPs were sworn in yesterday morning without a hitch, but when it came time for the Speaker of the House to be elected the new National opposition showed just how difficult a ride it intends to give the Labour-led coalition.
