Middlemore staff urge transparency over air quality
Nurses at Middlemore Hospital want answers on whether the air they're breathing at work is safe. Air monitoring for asbestos is taking place twice a week in the Galbraith building's basement and once every two months in the operating rooms. None of the monitoring has detected trace levels of asbestos in the air, but the DHB is now looking at the possibility of cordoning a part of the building to eliminate the risk entirely. The Nurses Organisation's industrial advisor for DHBs is Lesley Harry. She talks to Susie Ferguson.
