Businesswoman, charity campaigner, and former wife of Sir Paul McCartney, Heather Mills, has received an apology and substantial damages after settling her class action case against The News of the World newspaper over phone hacking.
In a statement outside the High Court in London, she said she felt joy and vindication - and criticised what she called "the targeted smear campaign waged against her" and other victims, including Sir Elton John and Elizabeth Hurley, by News Group Newspapers.
