Judge seeks independent authority for state care abuse victims

From Morning Report, 8:10 am on 30 October 2019

A judge who spent years speaking to more than a thousand victims of abuse is calling for an independent authority to deal with complaints.

Judge Carolyn Henwood was chair of a confidential panel assisting survivors that ran from 2008 to 2015.

Yesterday, she told the Royal Commission investigating abuse in state and faith-based care that inquiry victims have no access to justice.

Judge Henwood spoke to Susie Ferguson about her findings.
