Muslim community says Arms Act revisions should stand on their own

From Morning Report, 7:23 am on 29 November 2019

The Muslim community wants the proposed second tranche of new gun legislation to stand or fall on its own merits and not using the Christchurch attacks to justify it.

If passed the revised Arms Act would among other things, introduce a firearms register, to monitor and track every firearm legally held in New Zealand.

It would also give police the power to keep those they deem high-risk away from guns.

RNZ reporter, Andrew McRae was at the committee hearing.
