Defence lawyers want an urgent review of all Covid-19 prosecutions because they are adding to a massive backlog of cases in the District Court.
It says the police risk overwhelming an already-stretched justice system if they pursue the nearly 1000 charges laid in relation to breaches during Alert Levels 2, 3 and 4.
