Phase two of the police's gun buy-back scheme begins today, with owners asked to hand in outlawed guns, parts and conversion kits.
These items became prohibited when new legislation was introduced after the Christchurch mosque shootings.
Police will reimburse for the returned illegal items over the next three months.
The amnesty will stay in place until the start of August.
Inspector Richard Wilson is heading the gun buy-back scheme programme.
He speaks to Corin Dann.
