Waikato DHB cyber attack: Overseas expert on fighting Conti attack

Details about the cyberattack that brought Waikato DHB to a screeching halt remain scarce.

Resident Doctors' Association national secretary Dr Deborah Powell told RNZ it was her understanding the ransomware cyber attack was a type of ransomware called Conti.

That's the same kind of software that paralyzed the national health system in Ireland.

Peter MacKenzie is an incident response manager at British cybersecurity firm Sophos - which has responded to a large number of Conti attacks in the past year.

He spoke to Susie Ferguson.
