A leading cancer specialist has labelled the Waikato DHB cyber attack as a "despicable act" with the potential to harm patients.
Among other problems, the hospital has been unable to retrieve the details of about twenty cancer patients who were waiting to begin treatment.
Chris Jackson is the Cancer Society's medical director.
