An Auckland-based cloud storage company - that the FBI warns is being used by ransomware attackers - cannot rule out hackers are using it to store patient data stolen from Waikato hospitals.
Mega.NZ says there's no sign of that happening.
The FBI has put out alerts for months, the latest just days ago, naming Mega among a few cloud storage services that it says hackers have been using to upload large amounts of stolen data.
Its latest warning, on 20 May, came just three days after the cyber raid that is continuing to wreak havoc in Waikato.
Mega says it can't know what's in its encrypted cloud storage - but that when police alert it, it shuts an account down 'within minutes'.
Mega was set up by Kim Dotcom in 2013 but he exited it years ago.
Its chief executive Stephen Hall told reporter Phil Pennington they are not making money out of data stolen by hackers.
