Law firm seeks judicial review of immigration decisions

From Morning Report, 6:19 am on 22 July 2021

An Auckland law firm is seeking a judicial review of two recent decisions made by the Minister of Immigration.

D&S Law has filed high court proceedings on behalf of University of Auckland Professor, Michael Witbrock, whose husband is stuck in China.

The first decision made by Kris Faafoi relates to the processing suspension for temporary offshore visa applications until February next year.

The second is Faafoi's instruction to Immigration New Zealand to lapse or refund about 50,000 temporary offshore visa applications.

A partner at D&S law, Stewart Dalley told reporter Katie Doyle they are a breach of Human Rights.
