A man accused of killing a toddler in Southland in 2015, changed his story from saying he did not know what happened to saying he tripped on a skateboard and fell on the boy.
The man was charged with murder at the time but weeks later was found dead in custody. With no trial possible, a three day inquest in Wellington is now setting out to establish what happened.
