Facebook's new parent company, Meta, has announced a programme for journalism in New Zealand, in which they'll provide grants and coaching to news media.
It follows action in February by Facebook to block Australia users from viewing or sharing news. Now Australia has a new law to compel the tech giant to pay for news content.
Corin Dann spoke to Facebook head of public policy for Australia and New Zealand Mia Garlick.
She said the new initiative is not an attempt to stop the same thing happening here.
