Kaimaumau residents are glad to be back home, after a wildfire came within 200 metres of their Far-North town.
They were evacuated at the weekend, and around 30 people and more than a dozen cats and dogs spent three nights sleeping at Waiharara School hall.
The blaze, which is still being fought, has burned through 2000 hectares of bush, scrub, wetland and dune vegetation but no-one has been hurt and no homes damaged.
