Illegal to ignore "do not knock" stickers

It's now illegal for roving salespeople to ignore "do not knock" stickers.

Today's changes to the Fair Trading Act, mean door-to-door traders who ignore a 'Do Not Knock' sticker risk fines of up to $30,000.

The Commerce Commission says it's a win for comsumers after pushing for the changes since 2014.

It's Chief Executive, Jon Duffy says over the years they've heard of people who end up buying the product, just to get rid of the person.

He spoke to Morning Report.
