The New Zealand Bar Association wants more done to improve safety for lawyers working in the country's courtrooms.
The response comes after a judge was forced to leave a courtroom in the Wellington High Court on Thursday when observers tried to scale the two-metre perspex screen separating the courtroom from the public gallery.
The scenes occurred during the first appearance for three people charged in relation to the murder of Stokes Valley man Rawiri Wharerau.
This and other episodes have had the local Bar Association calling for better courtroom security.
New Zealand Bar Association president, Maria Dew, KC, spoke to Corin Dann.
