The Hard Quartet is a band we think you should pay attention to.
They’ve been called a supergroup, and it’s an interesting one because each member has a cult following. Stephen Malkmus is best known for his work with Pavement, Matt Sweeney from Superwolf with Bonnie Prince Billy and Cat Power, and Emmett Kelly, the songwriter and guitarist for The Cairo Gang and who has also collaborated with Will Oldham.
The drummer, Jim White, who also plays with Dirty Three and Smog, joins Charlotte Ryan to mark the release of The Hard Quartet’s self-titled debut album.
