Hip hop acts Cypress Hill and Ice Cube were last on the same Auckland stage in 1994, on the North Shore. In a week’s time they’ll be back, with a swathe of other local and international rap and reggae acts including UB40, at the eighth Ragamuffin Festival.
The intervening twenty years have seen Ice Cube continue his musical work alongside a burgeoning movie career as producer, writer and star.
He spoke from his Los Angeles base to Mark Cubey, a hip hop fan from day one who took time out of his his main gig producing Kim Hill’s Saturday Morning programme to talk to the man with the meanest scowl in show business.
