Is the Supreme Court overstepping its bounds?

A new report claims New Zealand's Supreme Court is becoming increasingly activist, and risks overstepping its judicial role.

The New Zealand Initiative thinktank points to several recent cases where the Court has seemingly, willfully, gone against Parliament's intentions, and warns that trust and confidence in the Courts may be eroded if this continues.

Roger Partridge is the chair of the New Zealand Initiative thinktank, and author of the report.
