People who believe they've been wrongfully convicted of a crime - and have exhausted all avenues of appeal - now have another place to turn.
The Criminal Cases Review Commission provides that path - it accepts applications from people who believe they've been treated unfairly by the justice system.
It replaces the Royal prerogative of mercy. Colin Carruthers QC heads the organisation, and Tim McKinnel, a private investigator who worked on the high-profile Teina Pora case, explain why the commission is needed, and how it will work.
