Nine to Noon's 2022 Short Story Competition is close today at 5pm
Entries must be no more than 2000 words, not previously published and written by anyone over 16.
This year's judges are acclaimed New Zealand writers Harry Ricketts and Rebecca K Reilly.
Nine to Noon host Kathryn Ryan says she’s excited about the competition happening again.
“We were bowled over by the response last year and we can't wait to see what our brilliant listeners do again with the written word."
"A great short story gives us a glimpse into a life so immediate that we feel we know both that person and their world," says Harry Ricketts.
There was a huge range of entries in last year's competition, he says, but the ones that stood out were those that had "a lot of heart and a lot of skill".
The top five winners will be announced on Friday 28 October, and those stories will be purchased by RNZ and recorded and broadcast on Nine to Noon in November.
You can find the full entry details here.
