On any given day all sorts of meals and baked items are being posted for sale on social media sites, many from unregistered kitchens.

New Zealand Food Safety is warning that purchasing cooked food online can be risky and safety standards are in place for a reason.

There are strict rules around homekill and fish catch and if people are selling cooked food they must be registered.

Jenny Bishop is the acting deputy director-general of New Zealand Food Safety and encourages people to speak up if they suspect there are online vendors who may not be following the rules.
