9:10 Hawke's Bay's buzzing: Hastings mayor Sandra Hazlehurst

First up we head to Hawke's Bay, where the region has been a buzz with the weekend wedding of former prime Minister Jacinda Ardern to Clarke Gayford. It's been a few years in the making, and the Bay turned on an absolute stunner of a day. You may've seen the photos of the happy couple which they shared with all media outlets on Saturday. People jetted in for the special occasion, and the overseas media reportedly put up a helicopter to try and get photos of the event. Summer Times checks in with the mayor of Hastings Sandra Hazlehurst on how the region is doing this summer after a difficult year.

9:20 Throwing wood: Kubb's rise in popularity in NZ

It's a game of throwing wooden sticks in the direction of your opponent and you've probably seen it played at a wedding. It's called Kubb and it's a Swedish throwing game played on a 5 by 8 metre pitch. It has been described as a combination of bowling and pétanque. To explain the game and its rise in popularity here is Freddie Coltart - who is one of the Kubb brothers. They've been making selling sets in New Zealand for a few years now.

10:10 Road trip with Mike Chunn

Today's road trip is with someone who is New Zealand music royalty. He has been recognised for services to music and mental health. He was a founding member of the band Split Enz and Citizen Band. He headed music licensing organisation APRA for 12 years. He also started the group 'Play It Strange', which promotes and nurtures up-and-coming musicians. Some of its alumni include Liz Stokes from The Beths, Kimbra, and Annah Mac. 

11:10 NZ architect on a career at Apple and coming home

Claire Sharpe has come full circle ... and then some. As a young architect she left New Zealand in search of adventure, and on her first day at a new firm landed a job working for tech guru, Steve Jobs - one of the most successful business leaders in the world. After a decade of living in London and then San Francisco, Claire has recently returned to New Zealand to work for architecture firm Warren and Mahoney.

11:30 Retracing the steps of Nancy Wake

Preparation is underway across the Tasman for a group of female veterans set to embark on an extraordinary adventure - retracing the steps of one of our most celebrated war heroes, Nancy Wake. Nancy was born in Wellington in 1912, and became a prominent member of the French resistance during World War Two. The daring and brave young woman helped thousands of allied servicemen and Jewish refugees escape occupied France. One of her most incredible missions is being re-traced by the group of Australian veterans, among them, Liz Wheeler - a former member of the Australian Defence Force.

11:45 Theia / TE KAAHU

Alternative pop musician Theia is a fierce proponent of the revitalisation of Māori language and culture. Her TE KAAHU project honurs the craft of Māori songwriting and storytelling and debut album Te Kaahu O Rangi was met with critical acclaim when it was released in 2022. Theia has a big year ahead - in the next few months she'll be performing at WOMAD, Camp A Lo Hum and the Auckland Art Festival.
