Ian Hassall: How the anti-smacking law changed thinking
It's a decade this month since one of the most controversial law changes was introduced - what became known as the anti-smacking law. Section 59 of the Crimes Act was amended, abolishing the use of parental force for the purpose of correction. Former children's commissioner Ian Hassall still backs the law, even though NZ First has said it would repeal it.
