After RNZ's Jim Mora overheard some teens raving about Kiwi musician Sam Charlesworth, he wanted to check him out.
The 18-year-old singer-songwriter, who grew up on Auckland's North Shore, is now studying music, te reo Māori, and marine science in Dunedin.
With the best surfing in New Zealand, flourishing marine life, music heritage and a fascinating local iwi to learn about (Kāi Tahu), Dunedin is a great place to be, Sam says.
The self-taught musician has just released his fourth album Duality of the Human Mind, which was recorded in his bedroom on a couple of microphones.
"I just whip [the songs] up in my room, hit 'record' and see what happens."
