This has prompted some quarters to call for a parliamentary review into the big profits being made by banks.
Research New Zealand have been looking into what aspects of New Zealanders' spending are being impacted by the cost of living crisis and what appetite - if any – there is for investigating the profits of our retail and finance industries.
