Dr Biu Sikivou - Diabetic Retinopathy

Over 30% of the Fijian population has diabetes, and the disease is a growing problem throughout the Pacific. Dr Biu Sikivou is Associate Director of the Pacific Eye Institute in Fiji & Lead Ophthalmologist of the Fred Hollows Foundation's Diabetes Eye Programme. Dr Biu was in New Zealand for a meeting of regional representatives of the Fred Hollows Foundation. She will be presenting a paper at the World Diabetes Congress in Melbourne.
