Peace in 10000 Hands
From Sunday Morning 21 September 2014
A single white rose, a symbol of peace, photographed in the hands of ten thousand people from every country in the world.
It's a global art project on a massive scale and it's the creation of New Zealand photographer Stuart Robertson.
For the project, Stuart has photographed people such as Ricky Gervais, Jamie Lee Curtis and a host of Hollywood stars, holding a single white rose in their hands to signify peace. He's photographed Indian Sadhus, tattooed gangsters and many local well-known faces such as Lucy Lawless as well as RSA veterans and Maori Kuia. It's an extraordinary collection of faces and hands and it's designed to re-invigorate the conversation about the need for peace.
Stuart Robertson joins Wallace Chapman on International Peace Day – Sunday September 21 – to talk about his work which will projected onto the facade of the Auckland War Memorial Museum in a spectacular free event.
