Zam Rock band Witch were crowd favorites atWOMAD 2024 performing the opening concert on Friday, March 15th, in New Plymouth at the TSB Bowl Stage. The headliners were musical icons in Zambia during the 70s, building a cult following for their signature style of psychedelic blues, now known as the genre Zamrock. W.I.T.C.H. stands for "We Intend To Cause Havoc," a statement embodied by the band's energetic 72-year-old frontman, Jagari Chandi. In 2023, Witch released Zango, their first new recording in four decades. Here they are in their second chapter as a band, bringing their genre-bending sounds to Aotearoa.
