    Braille is an important component in many blind peoples’ lives, and some of those blind people are musicians. In this programme Lisette Wesseling explores Louis Braille’s adaptation of his six-dot reading and writing system for the blind to represent the language of music. Braille awareness consultant for the Royal New Zealand Foundation of the Blind, Lisette is also a soprano and studied voice in Auckland, Melbourne and London, with a special interest in early music – and she uses Braille music. Lisette is joined by Stephen Bennett, Ken Joblin, Àine Kelly Costello, Moya Michalachis and Wendy Richards.

    The Battle of Mount Street Bridge was, militarily, the most successful rebel engagement in Dublin during the 1916 Easter Rising. A small core of Irish rebels held up some 1,750 British soldiers who had come to quell the rebellion. Ken is bass section leader  in the choir of the Cathedral of the  Blessed Sacrament, Christchurch (aka CBS Choir)   On this - the choir’s 7th international tour – they performed in the cathedrals and major churches of Los Angeles, Chelmsford, Westminster, Dublin, Kilkenny, Killarney, Galway, Belfast, Glasgow, Edinburgh, York, Leeds, Liverpool and Birmingham.
