A person has been killed and two others hurt in a three-vehicle crash in Waikato.
Emergency services were called to the incident on SH39 near Ngāhinapōuri about 2.20am on Wednesday.
One person was dead while two were 'moderately' injured, police said.
The highway was closed as police clear and examine the scene.
Drivers were being warned to expect diversions and delays.
