In the first crash, a car hit a power pole at Clareville in Wairarapa bringing down power lines across the road on Wednesday morning.
Police said the road had reopened on Wednesday afternoon.
Wellington Free Ambulance said one person was treated at the scene but did not require further medical attention.
Meanwhile, a separate crash in Clareville on Wednesday afternoon closed State Highway 2 at the intersection of Somerset Road.
Police said the two vehicle crash was reported at 1.30pm.
Two people were seriously injured and a third sustained moderate injuries, they said.
The road was still closed near Chester Road on Wednesday afternoon with detours in place via Hughes Line and Park Road and motorists are advised to avoid the area and expect delays.
