Christchurch residents' collective CanCERN is welcoming the announcement of a $2.2 billion plan to rebuild the city's infrastructure.
The five year plan outlining quake damage repair work for more than half the city's roads, drains, and sewerage networks was revealed on Friday by the Earthquake Recovery Minister and the Christchurch mayor.
CanCERN spokesperson Leanne Curtis, says it is empowering for residents to know there is a plan.
She says residents are pleased a schedule has been outlined including priority being given to the east of the city.
Ms Curtis says the earthquakes have made people value how important it is to have quality roads and a working sewerage system.
