Demolition waste from earthquake-hit central Christchurch will continue to be dumped at a landfill in the northern suburb of Burwood for the next five years.
The Christchurch City Council on Thursday announced that resource consent has been given to continue transporting thousands of tonnes of rubble to the Burwood Resource Recovery Park.

More than 300,000 tonnes of construction and demolition waste has already been taken to the dump, and up to 200,000 tonnes is expected as the rebuild continues.
Burwood Pegasus Community Board chair Linda Stewart says residents living near the tip are sick and tired of the dust and noise from trucks carrying the waste.
As part of the consent conditions, the road will be moved slightly and a 4-metre high barrier will be built so fewer residents are affected.
Water and waste manager Mark Christison says the changes will reduce the park's effects on communities.
