Singapore has expanded its recall of infant formula products because they may have come into contact with traces of New Zealand company Fonterra's contaminated whey protein.
Danone Dumex took more tins off supermarket shelves as a precautionary measure after being told by Fonterra the product was packed on a production line that may have held residues of the questionable material, Reuters reports.
In a statement on its website, Danone Dumex said there is no evidence to suggest these batches represent any health risks, however, consumer safety is its only concern at present.
The company said it has zero tolerance for potential food safety risks and, therefore, the decision has been taken to recall the products and destroy them.
Product recalls have been ordered in nine countries, including New Zealand, China, and Thailand. Russian media on Thursday continued to report that it had placed an import ban on all Fonterra dairy products although that was denied by government officials in New Zealand.
