Christchurch's Hagley Oval now has official approval to host international cricket matches.
The grounds in Hagley Park have been given International Cricket Council accreditation, which confirms it will be able to host the Boxing Day test against Sri Lanka, and the opening match of the 2015 Cricket World Cup in February.
Head of the New Zealand International Cricket Council World Cup 2015, Therese Walsh , said the approval was the last piece in the effort to get international cricket back in Christchurch.
"It's about the quality of the field, the pitch itself, it's about the facilities that are available, so the player facilities, media, broadcast, all sorts of facilities that are required to host an international level match."
She said the quality of the field and pitch, and the facilities for players and media were all assessed as part of the accreditation.
