The Teachers Council is investigating the actions of a Hawkes Bay principal over his handling of allegations against a teacher found guilty of indecently assaulting children.
Charles Harter, 63, was sentenced in the Napier District Court on Thursday to three years and four months jail.
He had earlier admitted nine charges of indecently assaulting girls aged between nine and 12 he had contact with at Havelock North Primary School between 2012 and July this year.
Teachers' Council acting director Rob McIntosh said its Complaints Assessment Committee was considering a conduct complaint which has been laid against the principal.
"We received that relatively recently. The complaint relates to his actions in dealing with concerns around Mr Harter rather than his own behavour with regard to children."
