Two people have died following a two-car collision in Southland.
Emergency services are at the scene of the crash, on Lorne-Dacre Road, State Highway 98, in Rakahouka, Southland.
As well as the fatalities, police said one person was in a critical condition and another had serious injuries from the 1.10pm crash.
The eastbound lane of Lorne-Dacre Road remained closed. Diversions were in place.
Motorists should expect delays while the Serious Crash Unit investigated, police said.
