A high-risk child sex offender is due to appear in court today, charged with breaching his release conditions.
Darren Jolly has multiple prior convictions for sexual connection with, and indecent assault, of girls aged under 16.
He was arrested in 2012 after three weeks on the run, a year after being released from prison on a 10-year extended supervision order.
The police found Jolly on State Highway 1 near Pegasus in Canterbury at about 11.30pm last night.
The 51-year-old will appear in the Christchurch District Court today, charged with breaching his extended supervision order.
